Oasis is a mid-late spring variety of durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.), created at the Altai Research Institute by single-phase individual selection from the Angel x Saratovskaya Zolotistaya hybrid population. The variety's vegetative period is 81-95 days; it matures 4-6 days later than the Yanchenko Memorial variety. The variety is recommended for cultivation in regions with ordinary and southern chernozems, such as the Kulundinskaya Steppe of the Altai Krai, the Kansk-Krasnoyarsk Forest-Steppe, and the Steppes of the Krasnoyarsk Krai foothills, as well as the Republic of Khakassia.
The Oasis variety is distinguished by high stable yield, especially on low-yielding agroforests, which is associated with plant productivity and the main spike. The grain is large-grained with good quality indicators and pasta properties. Gluten content in the grain is 1.2-1.6% higher compared to the Yanchenko Memorial and Aleyskaya standards, which positively affects product quality. Pasta products from this variety are distinguished by an attractive color and low losses during cooking, although gluten strength lags behind some standards. Additionally, the variety is characterized by easy threshing of grain.
In terms of disease resistance, Oasis is moderately resistant to brown rust but highly susceptible to root rots and powdery bunt. Overall, regarding diseases, it is close to the Yanchenko Memorial standard, but it requires attention to protection against powdery bunt. This variety is a good choice for producers focused on obtaining high-quality grain with excellent pasta properties in the specified regions.
