The spring hard wheat variety «Omsk Amber» is characterized by medium ripening with a vegetation period from 75 to 88 days. The plant is semi-erect with a medium straw length, covered with a strong waxy bloom, which contributes to stability under unfavorable conditions. The ear is cylindrical, strongly colored, medium length, and loose in density. The grain is elongated, white in color, with a 1000-grain mass of 35 to 42 grams, ensuring good pasta qualities and high nutritional value.
The variety is resistant to a number of diseases, including powdery and hard head smut, as well as brown rust and stem rust. At the same time, it is moderately susceptible to powdery mildew and highly susceptible to Septoria and root rots. Due to the strong waxy bloom on the flag leaf blade, straw neck, and ear, the plant demonstrates increased stability to lodging and drought, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions.
«Omsk Amber» is recommended for cultivation in the Southern Forest-Steppe and foothills of the steppe on ordinary and southern chernozems of Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia. The variety has stable yields averaging 22.3-28.1 c/ha, with maximum indicators reaching up to 46.1 c/ha. The glassiness of the grain is about 80%, gluten content is 31.2%, and grain natural weight is 779 g/l, confirming its high quality and suitability for pasta production.
