Soft winter wheat of the Nemchinovskaya 17® variety is a mid-season high-yielding variety intended for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the Central and Central Chernozem regions. The plant is of medium height, with a height of 72 to 103 cm, has a semi-erect stem and a cylindrical ear of medium density and length. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 38 to 49 grams, indicating good grain quality. The vegetation period is 288 to 319 days; the variety matures a few days later than standard varieties such as Fedin's Memory and Moscow 39. The variety is characterized by good winter hardiness, rated as medium and above average, as well as resistance to lodging, which ensures yield stability. Drought resistance is at the level of the standard Moscow 39. Nemchinovskaya 17® shows weak susceptibility to powdery mildew and brown rust, but is more prone to snow mold compared to some standard varieties. At the same time, the variety is susceptible to fusarium head blight, which requires attention during agronomic measures. The main advantage of the variety is its good baking qualities, making it valuable for producing high-quality flour and bakery products. The average yield in the region is about 31.2 centners per hectare, while maximum yield figures reached 68.2 centners per hectare under favorable conditions. Nemchinovskaya 17® is recommended for cultivation in the Kaluga region and other regions with similar climatic conditions, confirming its adaptability and stability in various agro-climatic zones.
