Description SCHIPTER
The Schipter soft winter wheat variety is a mid-maturing, dwarf variety with semi-erect bush form and plant height ranging from 79 to 96 cm. The ear is cylindrical, white, loose, and short, covered with a strong waxy bloom. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 38 to 49 grams. The vegetation period lasts from 284 to 338 days, maturing 1-3 days later than standard varieties Myronovskaya 808 and Moskovskaya 39. Sowing dates are recommended in the first and second decade of September; the variety does not have high requirements for sowing dates and adapts well to various agronomic backgrounds, including low and medium soil fertility levels. Schipter is distinguished by high lodging resistance, which ensures crop preservation even on low and medium agronomic backgrounds. The grain of the variety has increased shattering resistance, which contributes to reduced losses during harvest. The variety is resistant to hard head smut and moderately resistant to brown rust, but susceptible to snow mold. Drought resistance is at a medium level, comparable to the benchmark variety Amber 50. Winter hardiness is high; the variety withstands frosts, low temperatures, and spring frosts well, making it a reliable choice for regions with harsh climatic conditions. Ecological plasticity and high physiological characteristics of the Schipter variety allow growing it in various regions, including Northwestern, Volga-Vyatka, Central-Black Earth, and Middle Volga. The variety achieves high yield indicators on variety trials, as confirmed by test results. Baking qualities of the grain are assessed as satisfactory in the Northwestern region and good in the Volga-Vyatka region. Low tannin content in the grain makes the variety especially suitable for producing flour and high-quality bread.
