Wheat variety Kraplina is a high-yielding winter variety intended for cultivation in the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. This variety belongs to the medium-late group with a vegetation period of approximately 282-287 days and an average plant height of 78 to 102 cm. Kraplina is distinguished by high resistance to lodging, shattering, and grain shedding in the ear, which ensures yield retention and high grain quality. Plants have upright stems with a strong waxy coating on the sheath of the flag leaf and straw-yellow pyramidal ears with awns. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, confirmed by ratings of 7-8 points for these traits. Additionally, Kraplina exhibits good resistance to major diseases such as rust, powdery mildew, septoria, and yellow rust. The variety’s frost and drought resistance are above average, making it a reliable choice for intensive farming across various agroclimatic zones. The quality of Kraplina grain meets the standards of strong wheat and is suitable for food use. The grain has a red color, medium length and size, with a 1000-grain weight of approximately 35.2 g. Protein content ranges from 13.7 to 15.1%, gluten content from 29.9 to 31.2%, and dough strength reaches 390-474 a.o.a. Milling and baking properties of the variety are good and excellent, with bread volume from 100 g of flour reaching 1020 ml, indicating high product quality and versatile grain use.
