Winter soft wheat variety Krepysh is a new variety developed by the breeder "Bor" and regionally tested in 2021 for the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. The variety was created through individual selection in the F-2 generation from a population obtained by crossing the varieties Stal'eva, Titona, and Shestopalkovka. The vegetation period is 265-270 days, heading occurs ultrarapidly, and maturity is early. Plants reach a height of 75-80 cm, have hollow, thick, and strong stems, providing high resistance to lodging. The ear is large, cylindrical, medium length (10-12 cm), and medium density. The average yield of the Krepysh variety in Ukraine is 87.9 c/ha, which is 5.4 c/ha higher than the standard variety Stal'eva. The grain is large, with a 1000-grain weight ranging from 40 to 65 grams. The variety is characterized by high wheat strength and grain quality with increased gluten (34%) and protein (17%) content, making it especially valuable for producing high-quality flour and bakery products. Krepysh belongs to an intensive usage type and is suitable for cultivation in all regions of Ukraine. It exhibits high resistance to soil and air drought, enhanced heat tolerance, and winter hardiness. Additionally, the variety is resistant to shattering and root germination, reducing yield losses and improving grain storage. Thanks to these characteristics, Krepysh is a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality wheat harvest.
