Bilyava wheat is a soft winter variety developed by Ukrainian breeders, distinguished by its light-colored grain and milder taste compared to other varieties. This variety is recommended for sowing in the Polissia, forest-steppe, and steppe regions, and belongs to the medium-early maturity group. Plant height reaches 85-95 cm, with a potential yield of 8.0-9.0 tons per hectare. Bilyava has a high protein content — from 12.2 to 13.8%, and the thousand-grain weight is approximately 42 grams. The variety is resistant to numerous diseases and stress factors, including lodging, shattering, root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew, making it a reliable choice for farmers. The recommended seeding rate is 3.5-5.0 million germinating seeds per hectare.
Bilyava wheat is versatile in use: it is suitable for sowing, sprouting, as well as for producing flour and flakes. It is especially valuable for sprouting, during which the grain doubles its beneficial properties. Bilyava sprouts are excellent for adding to salads and vitamin mixes with nuts or dried fruits, enriching the diet with beneficial substances. The juice from sprouts has pronounced regenerative and detoxifying properties, rich in minerals and beneficial substances, supporting immune system strengthening and increasing the body’s resistance.
Moreover, Bilyava wheat positively affects vascular health, strengthening vessel walls and preventing aging processes and tumor development. Thanks to these properties, sprout juice is used not only in the food industry but also in cosmetology as a rejuvenating agent. Thus, Bilyava represents a high-quality, multifunctional wheat variety combining high yield, disease resistance, and a rich set of beneficial properties for health and beauty.
