Goddess

The 'Goddess' wheat variety belongs to the steppe ecotype and is characterized by a medium-early maturity period, reaching maturity in 277-281 days. This variety was developed by the Donetsk Institute of Agroindustrial Production of the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and was included in the Ukrainian plant variety register since 2008. It is intended for cultivation in Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones, demonstrating high adaptability and productivity in these regions.

Plants of the 'Goddess' variety have a height of 74-79 cm and form pyramidal-shaped, medium-density spikes of white or straw-yellow color with moderate waxy bloom and awns. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, rated at 8.7-8.8 points, as well as resistance to lodging (9 points), shattering (8.2-9 points), and drought (7.8-7.9 points). Over the years of testing, the variety showed low susceptibility to major diseases and pests, including root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew.

The yield performance of the 'Goddess' variety is high: average yield is 62.0 c/ha in the Steppe zone and 62.8 c/ha in the Forest-Steppe zone, with a potential of up to 12.7 t/ha. The 1000-grain weight varies from 35.4 to 37.1 g. The grain has high protein content (14.1-14.2 %) and gluten content (29.0-30.6 %), ensuring good and excellent baking qualities. The flour strength ranges from 300-412 units, and the loaf volume from 100 g of flour reaches 1100-1150 ml. The seeding rate is 4.0-5.5 million viable seeds per hectare, and the variety maintains high productivity even at late sowing dates.
