The winter soft wheat variety Zoryanka is a versatile and high-yielding variety developed at the Selection-Genetic Institute of UAAN and registered in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2014. It is intended for cultivation in the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya regions of Ukraine. Plants have an optimal height of 88 to 105 cm, characterized by strong and lodging-resistant structure, ensuring stable yields. The vegetation period is medium-early, allowing adaptation to various agro-ecological conditions.
Zoryanka is characterized by high drought and cold resistance, as well as comprehensive resistance to major fungal diseases, including root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew. The variety demonstrates high responsiveness to improved agrofond, especially to nitrogen fertilization, which contributes to achieving maximum yields of up to 88 ц/га or 10.1–11.1 т/га. Grain quality is high: thousand-grain weight is 42–45 g, protein content — 14.0–14.7%, making it attractive for grain use.
To achieve high yields, Zoryanka should be cultivated using intensive technology, with optimal preceding crops and timely nitrogen fertilizer applications. The second application is conducted after emergence of plants into the stem stage, and the third — during the heading stage up to milk ripeness, which contributes to improved grain quality and increased resistance to shattering and sprouting in the ear. The variety is characterized by stability and reliability, making it a profitable choice for farmers seeking high-quality yields under various climatic conditions.
