The spring vetch variety "Novi Belgrade" is a high-quality feed product, specifically developed for cultivation in low-temperature and limited water resource conditions. It is characterized by good drought resistance, ability to withstand late spring frosts, and ensures a high yield potential.
Stem height reaches 100‑120 cm, while the plant is branched from the base, contributing to a dense forage mass. Usually, 18‑22 leaves grow on each stem, ensuring a high grain yield within 35‑40 t/ha. Protein content of about 21 % makes "Novi Belgrade" a valuable feed for domestic animals.
The forage crop is characterized by a light-purple sail with 1-2 flowers per node, and seed quality allows obtaining from 100 to 120 kg/ha under normal sowing conditions. The minimum germination temperature is 5 °C, and the optimal growth temperature is 15‑18 °C. In terms of application, "Novi Belgrade" is suitable both as a forage crop and for green manure to improve soil, as well as in the composition of hay and organic fertilizer.
