The "Vika UZUNOVSKAYA 8" variety is an early-maturing spring-seeded annual crop of Vicia sativa L., intended for cultivation in the northern, central, and Ural regions of Russia. It is characterized by a short vegetative period: from emergence to physiological maturity in 87 days, which allows for rapid harvest even in a limited growing season. Leaves are green, without purplish spots, medium in width and length, with a straight or slightly notched tip; the stem is green, with sparse pubescence, and normal shape. The flower wings are purple, pods are medium-long, beak is short-medium length, and seed pods are numerous.
The seeds of the variety are rounded, medium-large, gray-green with a medium-intensity brown coloration. The average yield of dry matter is 35–38 kg/ha, and seeds are about 33–34 kg/ha (in some field conditions reaching up to 20.5 kg/ha). These indicators make the variety attractive both for green mass production and seed collection. An important aspect is disease resistance: in field trials, root rot and ascochyta blight were observed, however, no other phytopathogenic problems were noted.
The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Kirov region, Udmurt Republic, Volga-Vyatka region, and the North. It is suitable for both green mass production and seed collection, making it a universal solution for farmers with moderate climatic conditions. With proper fertilization and adherence to agronomic recommendations, a stable yield within 8–9 tons/ha of seeds, as well as good dry matter productivity, can be expected.
