Vetch BUGOVSKAYA 2

High-Protein Potential for Forage Production

The Lugovskaya 2 common vetch variety, developed by the Williams FRC V.R. Williams, is a staple in Russian fodder agriculture. Its main value lies in its ability to combine massive vegetative growth with a high concentration of nutrients, making it a reliable choice for professional livestock operations.

Technical Specifications

• Utility: Designed specifically for green forage, hay, and haylage production.
• Nutritional Value: Boasts a crude protein content ranging from 20% to 24%.
• Growth Habit: Plants reach a height of 80–120 cm, ensuring significant biomass yield per hectare and ease of harvesting.

Pros and Considerations

The primary advantage of Lugovskaya 2 is its consistent growth vigor, which allows it to quickly canopy the soil, effectively suppressing weeds and reducing reliance on herbicides. It is highly valued for its predictability in moderate climate conditions. However, growers should note that the variety is responsive to management; to achieve the upper threshold of 24% protein, the crop requires optimal moisture and nutrient availability during its critical vegetative development phases.

Why choose Lugovskaya 2?

This variety is an excellent fit for producers aiming to maximize farm-grown protein. It performs best in cereal-vetch mixtures, providing a balanced, energy-dense feed that significantly lowers the need for expensive commercial protein supplements and concentrates.
