Vetch Lyuba

Consistent forage yields in challenging environments

The 'Lyuba' vetch variety, developed by the Siberian Federal Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnologies, proves its reliability in regions with short growing seasons. With a plant height of 80-120 cm, it allows for efficient use of standard forage equipment, ensuring a clean and even windrow.

Operational and Harvesting Insights

• Optimal Timing: The ideal balance of nutrients and biomass volume is reached during the budding to early flowering phase. Delaying harvest leads to stem lignification, which reduces silage palatability.
• Ease of Handling: With a thousand-seed weight of 40-55g, the variety is easy to calibrate for standard seed drills, ensuring smooth flow in the sowing unit without clogging.
• Versatility: This crop is excellent for both hay and silage. Its annual nature allows it to quickly fill feed gaps in the crop rotation.

Under field conditions, 'Lyuba' shows good resistance to lodging, which is critical for mechanized harvesting. Maintenance is straightforward, requiring only standard weed management in the early stages. If you are looking for a reliable source of protein-rich feed that performs well in colder climates, this is a solid choice for your operations.
