The «Belotserskovskaya 679» variety is a high-value type of spring vetch, developed at the Belotserskovskaya Breeding Station. It is characterized by high yield and good feed value: dry mass contains up to 19% protein, and green mass contains 56–57 mg of carotene. The crop serves as an excellent green manure for cereals, enriching the soil with nitrogen through bulbous bacteria.
The planned cultivation cycle involves sowing in early spring (for the spring version) or two weeks earlier than rye (for the winter version). Sowing depth is 3–4 cm on loams and 5–6 cm on sandy loam. Sowing rate is 120–160 kg/ha; vetch responds well to phosphorus fertilizers, and nitrogen is added at a rate of N30–45 in spring. To improve germination, a mixture of Fundazol and TMTHD is used, as well as Rizotrofin to stimulate symbiosis.
The crop requires moderate irrigation: during sowing – 800–1000 m³/ha, and subsequently as needed. Vetch tolerates dry conditions well with irrigation and responds quickly to increased day length. With proper care (tilling, weed control with herbicides), yield can reach 2–3 tons/ha of green mass, and also 1.5–2 kg/m² when used as a vegetable product. The «Belotserskovskaya 679» variety is suitable for producing hay, silage, and feed for cattle, poultry, and pigs.
