Vetch Lyudmila

Vetch «Lyudmila»: A Reliable Choice for Sustainable Farming

«Lyudmila» is a high-yielding spring vetch variety developed by the Federal Research Center «Nemchinovka». It stands out in the agricultural market as a dual-purpose crop, serving effectively both as a high-protein feed source and an efficient green manure (siderate).

Agronomic Advantages and Disease Resistance

What sets «Lyudmila» apart from its competitors is its robust genetic resistance to key fungal diseases, including wheat leaf rust, septoria, and powdery mildew. This resistance allows farmers to reduce the number of chemical interventions, ensuring a safer and more environmentally friendly cultivation process.

• Growth Potential: With a plant height ranging from 80–110 cm and a protein content of 18–22%, this variety provides exceptional nutritional value for livestock.
• Optimal Management: The vegetation period of 85–100 days fits perfectly into diverse crop rotation schemes. For best results as a siderate, the crop should be harvested during the budding phase to maximize nutrient accumulation in the soil.

Who is this variety for?

«Lyudmila» is best suited for producers utilizing early spring sowing. With a 1000-seed weight of 45–60 grams, the seeds demonstrate excellent germination energy, allowing for rapid canopy closure that naturally suppresses weed development. The recommended sowing rate is 120–160 kg/ha.

While the variety thrives best in areas with moderate moisture levels during the early development stages, its overall resilience and proven track record—backed by the expertise of the Nemchinovka Research Center and Agrocomplex-n—make it a cornerstone for those looking to improve soil fertility and secure high-quality yields. It remains a top-tier choice for farmers prioritizing soil health and cost-efficient animal feed production.
