Tulip Tinka

Growing Tinka Tulips: Practical Insights

If you are looking for a reliable variety for late-season landscaping or commercial production, 'Tinka' stands out for its consistency. The plant features a medium-height, robust stem that maintains its verticality even in open fields, eliminating the need for extra staking and reducing manual maintenance efforts.

Resilience and Plant Protection

The primary advantage of this variety is its inherent durability. Unlike many delicate commercial selections, 'Tinka' demonstrates strong resistance to common bulb diseases. Specifically, its low susceptibility to Rhizoctonia and common scab significantly reduces the frequency and cost of fungicide applications throughout the season.

• Pest Resistance: The variety's genetic profile includes resistance to potato cyst nematode and potato wart, making it a safe choice for planting in areas where soil health might be a concern.
• Blooming: The distinctive blend of red and lilac petals creates a striking visual impact. Its late blooming schedule is perfect for extending the season after early-spring varieties have faded.

Maintenance and Efficiency

Handling 'Tinka' is straightforward and labor-efficient. The plants respond well to standard nutrient programs and do not require specialized growth stimulants. During harvesting, the bulbs separate easily from the mother plant, simplifying the post-season processing. For those managing large plots or demanding retail environments, 'Tinka' provides a predictable, high-quality result with minimal daily monitoring for disease, making it a highly practical choice for any operator.
