Tulip Topparrot

Exotic Aesthetics with Professional-Grade Resilience

The 'Topparrot' tulip is not just another classic red flower; it is a striking member of the parrot tulip family, characterized by petals that mimic the ruffled plumage of a tropical bird. The primary value of this variety lies in its rare blend of visual eccentricity and robust vigor, a trait often missing in highly decorative cultivars.

Why 'Topparrot' Outperforms Competitors

Most parrot tulips are notoriously delicate and susceptible to fungal infections. 'Topparrot' defies this norm with a genetic resistance profile that makes it a reliable performer:

• Comprehensive Immune System: The variety shows high resistance to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt, as well as Tomato Mosaic Virus and Cladosporium. This makes it a preferred choice for commercial growers operating in challenging environments.
• Structural Integrity: Despite the complex, fringed shape of the bloom, the petals maintain their structure well, resisting collapse during windy conditions—a critical factor for forcing and cutting production.
• Flowering Schedule: As a mid-season bloomer, it perfectly bridges the gap between early and late varieties in both garden landscapes and greenhouse cycles.

Who Should Choose This Variety

This variety is ideal for professional florists and garden enthusiasts alike. Its medium height makes it versatile, allowing for effective use in landscape design or as a bold statement in floral arrangements. 'Topparrot' is for those who refuse to sacrifice plant health for aesthetic impact. The only "trade-off" to consider is its light requirement: to ensure those signature ruffled petals open to their full potential, the plant needs a sunny location protected from strong drafts.
