Tulip Estella Rijnveld

Operating and Maintenance Profile: 'Estella Rijnveld'

When working with this late-flowering parrot tulip, it is crucial to balance its ornamental value with appropriate agrotechnical practices. Unlike standard garden varieties, this cultivar demonstrates high resistance to a range of soil-borne pathogens, significantly simplifying maintenance and reducing the need for chemical fungicide treatments. The plant is resistant to potato wart, potato cyst nematode, late blight, and common scab, making it a robust asset for garden beds with challenging soil conditions.

Blooming Characteristics and Handling

The visual impact of 'Estella Rijnveld' is the result of intricate breeding: a striking combination of fiery red and snowy white petals with a distinct, fringed, and twisted parrot-like texture. The medium stem height provides excellent resistance to lodging even during strong winds, minimizing the need for staking. Maintenance is straightforward, consisting of routine watering and timely fertilization during the active growth phase.

• Plant Type: Parrot class, late flowering.
• Agrotechnical Reliability: High resistance to key soil-borne diseases.
• Visual Profile: Bicolor (red/white), pronounced petal ruffling.
• Placement: Ideal for mid-tier garden arrangements due to balanced height.

To achieve maximum ornamental appeal, we recommend planting bulbs in well-lit areas protected from direct drafts. Despite its high biological resilience, moisture management remains critical: waterlogging in the root zone is strictly prohibited, even given its resistance to scab and late blight.
