Tulip Carnaval de Rio

Operational Reliability

The 'Carnaval de Rio' tulip, belonging to the Triumph class, is a reliable asset for growers who prioritize low-maintenance crops. Its most significant advantage is a robust immune system. Unlike more fragile varieties, this tulip shows remarkable resistance to Verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt, Cladosporium, and mosaic virus. For a grower, this translates into fewer fungicide applications and fewer losses during humid, unpredictable spring seasons.

Maintenance and Field Performance

The plant reaches a medium height, which is ideal for commercial cutting. The stem is structurally sound and rigid, eliminating the need for extra labor-intensive tasks like staking or netting, even in windy conditions. The flower head itself is dense and maintains its classic goblet shape well, making it highly durable during transit and storage. This durability reduces post-harvest waste, ensuring that the final product reaches the market in perfect condition.

Flowering and Visual Appeal

As a late-blooming variety, 'Carnaval de Rio' is perfect for extending your sales season. Its striking bi-color pattern—red flamed markings on a crisp white base—is highly sought after by consumers. From an operational standpoint, the predictability of its growth cycle and its low susceptibility to pathogens make it a cost-effective choice for any tulip farm.
