Tulip Exotic Parrot

An Avant-Garde Accent for the Spring Garden

‘Exotic Parrot’ challenges every conventional notion of what a tulip should look like. Unlike traditional goblet-shaped varieties, this parrot hybrid boasts intricately curved petals reminiscent of the ruffled plumage of a tropical bird. The unusual texture, combined with a vibrant lemon-yellow base and signature bright green streaks, makes it a favorite among landscape designers looking to inject kinetic energy into spring flowerbeds.

Horticulture and Disease Resistance

The medium-length stem of ‘Exotic Parrot’ is robust enough to support its heavy, ruffled blooms even in breezy spring conditions, setting it apart from other exotic varieties prone to lodging. The true strength of this hybrid lies in its genetic resistance to a complex of common bulb-killing pathogens:

• Tobacco mosaic virus;
• Fusarium wilt;
• Cladosporium (leaf spot).

This makes the variety highly reliable for both professional floriculturists and home gardeners. However, as with all parrot tulips, it benefits from slight protection against direct harsh sunlight during peak bloom to preserve the saturation of its emerald green pigments.

Who is this cultivar for?

If you are looking for a plant for monochrome groupings or high-impact cut flower arrangements, ‘Exotic Parrot’ is an exceptional choice. It requires no companions, standing as a self-sufficient piece of living art. Because of its medium height, it thrives best in the foreground or mid-border of a garden. It is the perfect selection for those tired of ‘standardized’ garden forms who desire something architectural, sculptural, and unapologetically bold.
