Tulip Double Touch

Professional cultivation of 'Double Touch': Combining durability with market appeal

The 'Double Touch' tulip is a late-blooming double variety engineered for high-yield cut flower production. Known for its distinct white base and vibrant red margin, it offers a sophisticated aesthetic that consistently commands premium prices in the wholesale market. For professional growers, however, its value lies beyond its visual appeal—it is a robust, reliable workhorse.

Disease resistance and operational efficiency

Managing soil-borne pathogens is the most significant operational challenge in bulb cultivation. 'Double Touch' provides a clear advantage with its proven resistance to both Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt. This genetic trait allows farm managers to reduce the frequency of intensive fungicide applications, ensuring a more sustainable and cost-effective production cycle.

• Strategic planning: As a late-season variety, it fills the production gap after earlier crops are harvested, effectively extending the commercial season.
• Field performance: With its medium height and rigid stem, the cultivar handles mechanical harvesting and transport well, significantly reducing losses from lodging or breakage.
• Best practices: To maximize yield, focus on maintaining optimal soil moisture levels during the peak growth phase. The plant's natural resistance makes it an excellent candidate for integrated pest management systems where chemical inputs are minimized.

Whether for greenhouse forcing or field production, 'Double Touch' is a reliable asset for growers who prioritize high-density planting and disease management in their tulip programs.
