Tulip Christo

Field Management of 'Christo' Double Late Tulips

For commercial flower growers, 'Christo' is synonymous with reliability and predictable performance. Belonging to the Double Late category, this tulip variety rewards precise field management with a consistently high yield of premium bulbs and top-tier cut flower quality. During the growth cycle, 'Christo' displays robust tolerance to key pathogens, which significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications and lowers input costs.

Agronomic Strengths and Disease Resistance

The medium stem height ensures excellent resistance to lodging, facilitating both mechanical maintenance and harvest procedures. One of the primary advantages of 'Christo' is its strong genetic resistance profile. Field testing confirms that the variety maintains high health standards and effectively resists:

• Potato leafroll virus;
• Potato wart disease;
• Late blight (Phytophthora).

This biological resilience simplifies crop management, allowing for a more sustainable approach to cultivation by reducing dependency on intensive chemical treatments.

Practical Insights for Growers

The delicate pink hue and the dense, multi-layered structure of the 'Christo' bloom make it a standout choice for the late spring market. From an operational standpoint, the variety is low-maintenance: the stems are sturdy enough to withstand wind and rain without the need for additional support or staking. This stability is crucial for reducing waste and maximizing productivity during the harvest season. For operators looking to balance aesthetic appeal with operational ease, 'Christo' serves as a technically sound and highly profitable choice for professional tulip production.
