Tulip Clarion

Late-blooming Clarion: a professional approach to tulip cultivation

If your cropping schedule aims at late-season market dominance, the Clarion tulip is a reliable tool to achieve it. This late-blooming double tulip requires specific technical expertise but rewards the operator with high-quality, commercial-grade cut flowers.

Resilience and Field Management

The primary concern for any producer is fungal pressure, which can ruin a crop within days. Clarion stands out as a robust performer with proven resistance to:

• Verticillium wilt;
• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Phomopsis and Phoma blights.

This biological resistance significantly reduces the need for intensive fungicide spraying, helping to keep chemical overhead costs manageable. The plant reaches a medium height, which is ideal for logistics and greenhouse space optimization. The stem is sturdy enough to support the heavy, dense double bloom, ensuring a low percentage of fallen flowers even during peak development.

Operational Insights

From an operator's perspective, Clarion is highly responsive to consistent temperature management. To achieve that signature deep red hue, precise cooling protocols are mandatory. Any deviation during the forcing stage can affect petal structure, so strict adherence to the thermal schedule is key to successful harvesting.

Maintenance of the crop is straightforward. The cultivar shows excellent uniformity in emergence, which allows for efficient harvest planning and labor management. Furthermore, the bulb displays a high multiplication rate, making it a sustainable choice for operations that propagate their own planting material. Clarion is a balanced, reliable, and commercially viable option for growers who prioritize consistent, high-yield outcomes in the late-blooming segment.
