Daylily Patriot

Practical Application in Landscape Design

The 'Patriot' daylily, developed by the Pryluky Experimental Station of the NAAS, is a highly regarded choice for both professional landscapers and home gardeners looking for reliability and visual impact. Reaching a height of 70–80 cm, this hybrid is perfectly suited for the middle tier of flower beds and borders, maintaining its structural integrity without the need for complex staking.

The primary advantage of this variety is the combination of intense aesthetics and plant vigor. Its 12 cm orange blooms, characterized by delicate fringed edges, remain on display for up to 60 days. A key feature for planning garden succession is the plant's ability to re-bloom, allowing gardeners to maintain vibrant colors from mid-summer well into early autumn.

Cultivation Scenarios

• Border and Bed Planting: Its optimal height makes it an excellent choice for framing pathways or creating dense, colorful focal points in garden beds.
• Lighting Adaptability: 'Patriot' performs well in both full sun and partial shade. While sun exposure maximizes flower production, partial shade is highly recommended in hotter climates to prevent the orange pigment from fading, keeping the blooms fresh for longer.
• Mixed Borders: It integrates seamlessly with perennials of contrasting colors, such as deep blues or purples, adding depth to any composition.

For the best results, agronomists recommend planting in fertile, well-drained soil. Maintenance is straightforward, focusing on regular irrigation during dry spells and the removal of spent flower stalks, which directly triggers the plant's secondary blooming cycle. This variety represents an ideal balance between low maintenance and high-impact decorative value.
