Tulip Uncle Tom

Stability and Performance for Late-Season Flowering

Growing the 'Uncle Tom' tulip variety shifts the management focus from reactive treatment to proactive crop control. As a late-flowering double tulip, it offers a distinct advantage: high resistance to soil-borne pathogens like Fusarium and Verticillium wilt. This genetic robustness simplifies site preparation and reduces the overall need for heavy fungicide application, allowing growers to optimize their operational budget.

Operational Insights

• Field Performance: 'Uncle Tom' reaches an average height, striking a balance between aesthetic appeal and structural integrity. The stems are sturdy enough to eliminate the need for costly support systems, which streamlines the planting and maintenance cycle.
• Disease Management: Proven resistance to Tomato Mosaic Virus and Cladosporium rot makes this cultivar a reliable choice for commercial or landscape operations where minimizing crop loss is critical. The reduced frequency of chemical intervention translates to lower labor costs.
• Harvest and Aesthetics: The deep burgundy hue and dense double petals are highly sought after. Because this is a late-season variety, it integrates smoothly into your spring harvest schedule, helping to balance resource allocation after early-flowering crops have passed.

Reliability is the hallmark of 'Uncle Tom'. The bulbs demonstrate excellent post-winter survival rates, which minimizes the need for replanting and maintenance of empty spaces in the beds. For the operator, this means predictable yield and reduced overhead, proving that a high-quality late bloomer can be as efficient to maintain as it is beautiful to look at.
