Tulip Cilesta

A Benchmark for Double Early Tulips

The Celesta tulip has firmly established its reputation as a gold standard in the double early category. Developed through focused selection to enhance both resilience and aesthetics, this hybrid is now regarded as a dependable staple for both professional landscape design and container gardening.

Biological Resilience and Growth

The defining strength of Celesta lies in the balance between its ornate appearance and robust plant health. Unlike many early-blooming varieties that are notoriously sensitive to environmental stressors, this hybrid exhibits high resistance to common pathogens, specifically:

• Alternaria leaf blight;
• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Black leg (Erwinia).

This biological fortitude makes it a preferred choice for growers looking to reduce fungicide reliance during the critical early stages of development. Its mid-season blooming window allows for seamless integration into spring bulb displays, offering excellent versatility.

Visual Profile

Celesta is characterized by its distinct, dense-petaled flowers that blend rich red and lilac tones. As a low-growing cultivar, it is perfectly suited for the foreground of borders, rock gardens, and container arrangements where height would otherwise be a distraction. Despite its compact stature, the stems possess exceptional structural integrity, remaining upright even during the volatile, wet weather conditions often associated with early spring.

In the commercial market, Celesta maintains strong demand due to its reliable development cycle and high visual appeal, making it a predictable asset for cut flower production and retail bulb sales.
