Tulip Maravilla

Late-season performance and disease resistance

The 'Maravilla' tulip is a specialized late-blooming double variety, highly valued for its ability to extend the commercial harvest window. Characterized by its intense violet petals and robust bud structure, it serves as an excellent asset for late-season market differentiation.

Agronomic focus and management

The primary economic advantage of 'Maravilla' is its genetic resilience. In commercial greenhouse environments where humidity control is challenging, this variety shows significant resistance to root rot and phytophthora, reducing the overhead costs associated with intensive chemical protection protocols.

• Cultivation Strategy: Optimized for late-cycle forcing. By selecting this variety, producers can effectively target the post-peak market when supply of earlier varieties has already declined.
• Soil and Environment: While of medium height, the plant requires well-drained substrate to perform at its peak. Its resistance to soil-borne pathogens provides a safety net during high-moisture periods, reducing plant loss.
• Logistical Efficiency: The firm structure of the petals translates into high post-harvest durability. This ensures that the aesthetic quality remains intact during logistics, minimizing wastage for regional and long-distance deliveries.

For operations focused on stability and predictable yields, 'Maravilla' is an essential addition to the portfolio. By mitigating the risk of root health issues, this variety allows growers to focus on scaling production rather than constant disease mitigation.
