Tulip Upstar

Aesthetics of Late Blooming

The 'Upstar' tulip is a benchmark of late-flowering double varieties, valued in both home gardens and commercial cultivation for its peony-like flower shape. Its primary advantage over similar cultivars is the density of its petals. Unlike many varieties that tend to 'shatter' in spring winds, 'Upstar' maintains its structure remarkably well, holding its cup-shaped silhouette even when fully open.

Agronomic Strengths

This variety exhibits impressive resistance to several pathogens that often devastate bulb crops in high-humidity environments:

• High immunity to Phomopsis and Phoma leaf spot allows growers to minimize fungicide applications.
• Resistance to downy mildew makes it a reliable choice for regions with rainy spring seasons.
• A robust genetic foundation provides defense against rust, which is essential for dense, mass-planting schemes.

Who is this variety for?

'Upstar' is an ideal choice for landscape architects designing 'second-wave' flower beds. Its medium height (approx. 40-50 cm) makes it versatile for use in the center of garden borders or as a cut flower. In commercial production, it is highly sought after due to its long vase life, maintaining the pristine appearance of its delicate pink petals during transport and storage. It is the perfect balance for those seeking the decorative appeal of a peony-form flower combined with the reliability of a tested, hardy variety.
