Triticale Souvenir

A Strategic Approach to Phytosanitary Safety

The winter triticale variety "Suvenir," developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute, offers a targeted solution to one of modern grain production's greatest threats: Fusarium head blight. As climate volatility increases the risk of fungal epidemics, this variety stands out due to its systemic resistance to ear infection. For farmers practicing intensive cereal rotations, "Suvenir" serves as a reliable buffer, significantly reducing the probability of quality loss.

Agrotechnological Profile

The variety features a flexible plant height range (90–140 cm), allowing it to adapt to varying levels of soil fertility. However, growers should note that under high-input conditions with excessive nitrogen application, the plants may reach the upper height limit, necessitating the use of plant growth regulators to prevent lodging. The robust root system ensures efficient moisture uptake, making it a viable option for regions prone to intermittent dry spells.

Why Choose Suvenir?

• Crop Health: Genetically inherent resistance to Fusarium minimizes the need for aggressive fungicide applications during the flowering stage.
• Field Stability: Developed within Ukraine, this variety is fully acclimated to local climatic fluctuations, successfully bridging the gap between mild winters and sharp spring temperature shifts.
• Economic Value: A strong yield potential combined with high grain test weight makes it a versatile choice for both milling and livestock feed markets.

"Suvenir" is ideal for producers focused on reducing chemical inputs without compromising total output. It is a preferred variety for those prioritizing biological crop security and consistent performance in unpredictable weather environments.
