Triticale Hurricane

Durability and Potential of Winter Triticale

The «Uragan» variety is a product developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute – National Center of Seed and Cultivar Investigation. Over its years of use in Ukrainian fields, this winter triticale has established a reputation as a highly adaptive tool for farmers focusing on maximizing returns in challenging climatic conditions.

Agronomic Profile

The core value of «Uragan» lies in its balance between high productivity and environmental plasticity. As a winter crop, it utilizes autumn and winter moisture efficiently, a critical factor for regions prone to dry springs. The variety demonstrates strong resistance to lodging and typical fungal diseases, reducing the need for intensive fungicide applications and making it economically viable for farms with moderate levels of intensification.

Market Positioning

The Ukrainian breeding effort behind «Uragan» addresses the market demand for quality feed grain. Due to its high protein content and balanced amino acid profile, this variety is highly sought after in the livestock sector as a foundation for high-quality feed mixes. Additionally, «Uragan» is considered a promising crop for bioethanol production, opening up new market channels in the energy sector.
