Boriviter Kharkivskyi is a mid-season triticale variety developed by the Institute of Plant Physiology named after V. Ya. Yuriev, NAAS, and registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2015. This variety is recommended for cultivation in the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia regions, and also has potential for planting in southern areas during so-called 'January windows'. The vegetation period lasts 95-98 days, with plants of medium height, 100-110 cm, which ensures optimal conditions for yield formation.
Boriviter Kharkivskyi is characterized by high resistance to lodging, shattering, and seed germination, as well as enhanced cold and drought tolerance. It is resistant to major leaf diseases, which contributes to stable yields. The yield potential of the variety reaches 8 tons per hectare, with an average yield of approximately 4.24 tons per hectare, depending on growing conditions. The grain is large, well-filled, with a 1000-grain weight of 46 g, high test weight (764-788 g/l), and firm structure (178-181 N).
The grain of Boriviter Kharkivskyi has a high protein content — 12.6%, ensuring good baking properties. The first-group gluten content is 20.5-21.0%, allowing for bread volume of 400-530 ml from 100 ml of flour. The overall baking quality score of the variety is 8-9 points, making it suitable for bread and other wheat products production. The variety is ideally suited for cultivation on fertile, high-carbohydrate soils, which helps maximize its agronomic potential.
