Triticale Arsenal

Winter Triticale Arsenal: Field Experience

Selecting the right variety often comes down to minimizing risks while maximizing yield. After several seasons, the variety has proven to be a workhorse, performing consistently across various soil conditions.

Agronomic Performance and Handling

The standout feature of 'Arsenal' is its winter hardiness. Regardless of erratic spring temperature fluctuations, the crop emerges uniformly and avoids the patchy growth that plagues less hardy varieties. From an operational perspective, the stem strength is excellent, making the harvest much smoother. Even with higher nitrogen inputs, lodging is kept to a minimum, which drastically reduces harvester downtime and grain loss.

Operational Efficiency

• Sowing: The seed shows strong germination energy. When following standard planting dates, it establishes a dense stand effectively, ensuring weed suppression and consistent growth.
• Input Management: 'Arsenal' displays a high level of natural resistance to common leaf diseases.
• Harvesting: The crop threshes clean.

For those managing commercial agricultural operations, 'Arsenal' from PP 'Sort' represents a pragmatic choice. It doesn't require obsessive care to yield well, and it responds predictably to standard management practices. If you are looking for a variety that offers a balance between low maintenance and stable, high-quality output, this triticale is a solid asset.
