Triticale Oleviia

Adaptive Potential: The «Olevia» Triticale Hybrid

Registered in 2025 by the National Scientific Center «Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS», the «Olevia» hybrid is engineered for intensive grain production within the Forest-Steppe and Polissya regions of Ukraine. This complex hybrid is designed to balance structural integrity with high yield stability under volatile climatic conditions.

Field Performance and Stress Tolerance

The hybrid’s resilience is rooted in its specific morphological traits. A heavy waxy coating on the flag leaf sheath and the spike acts as a critical defense mechanism against heat stress and moisture deficit, allowing the plant to maintain metabolic efficiency during peak summer temperatures.

• Lodging Resistance: The hollow stem structure, combined with a medium plant height, provides excellent resistance to lodging, ensuring harvestability even in regions prone to heavy rainfall.
• Drought Mitigation: The semi-erect habit and medium heading time allow the crop to optimize soil moisture utilization during the spring growth phase.
• Growth Dynamics: The dense pubescence of the peduncle and the moderate spike density ensure that the plant directs its energy toward grain filling rather than excessive vegetative mass.

«Olevia» represents a strategic choice for producers seeking consistency. Its genetic profile, characterized by a flexible spike axis and moderate flower count, ensures reliable grain development. By minimizing environmental stress impacts, this hybrid offers a robust solution for modern grain farming.
