Maize BELTRAN

Genetic Potential and Culinary Profile

The «Beltran» hybrid from the French breeding center Av Du Capitaine N Tchorere is a specialized product designed specifically for the sweet corn market. Unlike field maize varieties focused on starch and silage yield, this hybrid is engineered to maximize sugar accumulation while maintaining a tender endosperm consistency during the milk-wax maturity stage.

Technical Specifications and Practical Application

• Kernel Structure: A high concentration of water-soluble sugars delivers the characteristic dessert-like flavor, making this hybrid an excellent choice for the fresh produce supply chain.
• End-User Properties: The pericarp (kernel skin) exhibits superior elasticity. This is a critical technical advantage during boiling, as the kernels retain their structural integrity and visual appeal without bursting.
• Culinary Integration: Due to its balanced dry matter content, Beltran maintains a crisp texture when used in complex vegetable salads, resisting softening when mixed with dressings.

Utilizing French breeding expertise in diverse agricultural conditions helps mitigate risks associated with uneven cob maturation. The hybrid's genetic stability ensures a high marketable yield during both manual and mechanized harvesting, which effectively reduces post-harvest waste during logistics and packaging operations.
