Vitava – a Timothy variety belonging to feed crops. The seeds of this plant are oval, grayish-silver in color, ranging from 1.5 to 2 mm in length and 0.5 to 1 mm in width. The weight of 1000 seeds is approximately 0.42 g, and about 2,300 pieces are contained in one kilogram. These parameters make Vitava convenient for precise calculation of sowing areas and feed production planning.
The crop is grown mainly in late summer; seeds from clean weed-free sowings begin to yield from the second year of life. Timothy Vitava usually stays in one place for 4–5 years, after which it can be replanted or replaced with another feed plant. The plant is cross-pollinated and blooms in early morning in June; the flowering cycle lasts about seven-eight days, after which the first cut begins.
Timothy Vitava is valued for its high yield and stable productivity. Thanks to its resistance to diseases and adaptability to various soils, it is suitable for a wide range of agricultural conditions. Seeds are easy to sow, and plants develop quickly, providing a reliable source of feed for livestock for several years after planting.
