Narymskaya – is a dense, erect, multi-stemmed variety developed by mass selection from a local wild population through open pollination and cultivation on a high-quality agronomic background. Stems reach up to 67 cm in height, with narrow, long leaves and inflorescences that are false spikes 8–15 cm long, containing small gray seeds. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, low susceptibility to fungal diseases, and resistance to lodging, making it suitable for cultivation in harsh climatic conditions.
The yield of Narymskaya is impressive: up to 73 c/ha of hay and up to 346 c/ha of green mass can be obtained in two cuts. Under optimal conditions, seed yield can range from 3 to 8 c/ha, with a thousand-seed weight of 0.53 g. The vegetative period begins immediately after spring growth and lasts 53–55 days until the first cut, while full seed maturity is reached in 92 days.
The variety is recommended for haymaking and pasture use, particularly in northern regions with low temperatures. It ensures good spring regrowth and high productivity under moderate growing conditions, making it a valuable choice for farmers aiming for sustainable and efficient agricultural production.
