Timothy Grass Milena

Technical Profile: 'Milena' Timothy Grass

Developed by the National Scientific Center 'Institute of Agriculture of NAAS', the 'Milena' variety is a specialized solution for high-yield forage production. This timothy grass cultivar is engineered to balance biomass output with superior environmental resilience, making it a reliable choice for long-term meadow and pasture development.

Key Operational Characteristics

• Drought Tolerance: The defining feature of 'Milena' is its exceptional drought resistance. Unlike standard varieties, it maintains growth stability under moisture-deficient conditions, allowing for consistent biomass production in steppe and forest-steppe climatic zones.
• Forage Efficiency: Designed for intensive agricultural use, the variety demonstrates rapid regrowth post-harvest. This feature enables producers to secure two to three full cuts per season, maximizing the nutritional output per hectare.
• Mechanical Suitability: The plant structure supports efficient mechanical harvesting with minimal losses. Its ability to retain nutritional quality throughout the pre-flowering stage provides farmers with a flexible harvest window.

Integrating 'Milena' into a forage program ensures lower crop thinning rates over 4–6 years of exploitation. Its robust survival rate in dry periods reduces the necessity for frequent reseeding, providing a stable, high-density stand that remains competitive against weeds while maintaining structural integrity for grazing or hay production.
