Description KHABAROVSKAYA
Khбаровskaya timothy is a variety of meadow timothy (Phleum pratense L.), belonging to the group of grasses. This frost-resistant plant is successfully cultivated in northern and temperate climatic conditions, including the Khabarovsk Krai, Kamchatka, Magadan region, and other regions with a cold climate. Seeds germinate at temperatures from 1 to 2 °C, while growth begins when the average daily temperature rises to 5–6 °C.

Timothy is characterized by high resistance to moisture: it withstands flooding with spring water for up to 30 days and grows well on clayey, moist soils, as well as in drained peatlands. However, the plant does not tolerate drought and prolonged shade, so it is best grown on open meadows with moderate moisture. Sowing on dry sandy soils is not recommended.

The fodder value of timothy is high: green mass and hay are easily consumed by animals, and the plant is a popular component of field and meadow sowing in forest-steppe and steppe zones. It responds well to fertilization, especially with nitrogen, which allows significantly increasing yield without the risk of quality reduction.

The plant form is characterized by erect shoots with alternate leaf arrangement; leaves are lanceolate, sharp, and rough. Inflorescences are green spikes, and fruits are dry caryopses. Due to its versatility and nutritional value, timothy is widely used as a fodder plant for agricultural animals.
