Description
Timothy grass "TAVDA" – a hexaploid variety with high yield and excellent acid tolerance. The average seed yield ranges from 3.5 to 4.1 centners per hectare, with dry matter reaching 92.4 c/ha. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, allowing it to grow successfully even in unfavorable climatic conditions and on poor soils.
"TAVDA" is widely used both as a pure stand for seed and hay production and in mixtures with clover or alfalfa. In wide-row sowing, the sowing rate is 4–6 kg/ha, while in continuous row sowing it is 10–12 kg/ha. To achieve maximum productivity, thorough soil preparation and seed incorporation to a depth of 0.5 to 2 cm are recommended. Application of nitrogen fertilizers up to 90 kg/ha in the form of diammonium phosphate and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers – 60 kg/ha ensures optimal growth and plant development.
The variety is characterized by low susceptibility to stem rust, which increases its disease resistance. The vegetative period is moderately long, and the leaf material has a medium width and pale-green color. The nutritional properties of "TAVDA" are also impressive: crude protein content is 10.8–12.0 %, and fiber is 21.7–25.7 %. These indicators make the variety attractive for high-quality forage production and seeds with high levels of beneficial substances.
