Phleum pratense L. (Timothy grass) is a grass developed by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Yaroslavl Scientific Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Feed Production. The variety was granted the status of breeding achievement in 1948 and has been widely used in agriculture for feed production, as well as for mulching and improving soil structure.
The culture is characterized by an erect bush, a stem of medium length, and narrow leaves. The flag leaf retains a bright green color, indicating high photosynthetic activity of the plant. The inflorescence also has a medium length, ensuring good seed yield under optimal growing conditions.
Timothy grass is suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones, including the Northwestern and Central regions. Thanks to its resistance to adverse conditions and high nutritional value, the variety is widely used in compound feed mixtures and as a feed crop for livestock. The variety code is 4500326, and the application for registration No. 694 was submitted on December 30, 1944.
