Morshanskaya 1188 is a variety of meadow timothy (Phleum pratense L.) obtained by the method of individual-family selection under free cross-pollination. It is characterized by medium maturity, high winter hardiness, and drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions.
The variety features good dry matter yield – from 5.5 to 6.5 tons per hectare, as well as high crude protein content in the first-cut hay (9–10%). Average protein yield and total harvest are at the level of the medium standard. Morshanskaya 1188 grows well on chernozem soils but can successfully develop on other soil types.
Meadow timothy is intended for hay, silage, and ensilage production. It possesses moderate resistance to rust and weak susceptibility to helminthosporium, ensuring stable growth and product quality throughout the season.
