Timothy Grass BARFLEO

A reliable cornerstone for high-yield forage

Barfleo, a timothy grass variety developed by the Dutch seed experts at Barenbrug Holland, is a preferred choice for farms focusing on high-quality forage production. Known for its consistency, this variety is designed to withstand intensive management while delivering significant biomass for both grazing and hay production.

Field Application and Farm Performance

The primary advantage of choosing Barfleo lies in its predictable performance. With a green mass yield potential of 30-45 tons per hectare, it serves as a robust component in modern forage systems. Farmers utilize Barfleo in several key scenarios:

• Hay and Silage Harvesting: The variety produces forage with high nutritional value, making it an excellent base for high-quality silage that improves cattle performance.
• Intensive Grazing Systems: Due to its rapid regrowth rate, Barfleo is perfect for multi-cut systems, allowing for efficient land use across the growing season.
• Soil Conservation: The deep and fibrous root system makes it an excellent choice for stabilizing soil on slopes and prone-to-erosion areas.

Why Barenbrug Genetics Matter

Barenbrug Holland has engineered Barfleo to excel in diverse climatic conditions. Its high winter hardiness ensures that the field remains productive even after harsh winters, while its resilience against excessive moisture prevents thinning of the sward. By maintaining appropriate fertilization regimes, producers can push their yields toward the upper limit of 45 tons per hectare. Its durability makes it an economical choice for long-term meadows, providing consistent feed security for livestock operations year after year.
