Description Torpedo
Table beet variety Torpedo is an early-maturing variety with a harvest period from sowing to harvest of 70-100 days. The roots are cylindrical in shape, with an average weight of 150-250 grams. They are embedded in the soil to about half their height and are easily pulled out due to a thin central taproot without branches. The root flesh is dark red in color, free of ringed texture, indicating high-quality produce.

The Torpedo variety is valued for its high yield, reaching 55-70 tons per hectare, as well as for its high percentage of marketable roots and excellent taste qualities. The beet’s storability is medium, making it suitable for short-term storage of 3-4 months. Due to these characteristics, the variety is widely used both for fresh consumption and processing.

For sowing, it is recommended to use seeds sown directly into the soil from mid-April to the end of June. The optimal sowing time is 6-7 days after the start of fieldwork to avoid low temperatures that can cause premature flowering. For sowing, it is better to use precision seeders, placing seeds in single rows with 45 cm between rows or in strips and wide bands with appropriate spacing. The seeding rate is approximately 8-12 kg per hectare.
