Fodder beet Carillon

Stability and Market Quality: Working with Carillon

For large-scale beet production, choosing the right hybrid is a matter of financial stability. Carillon from Rijk Zwaan has established itself as a reliable performer that stands up to challenging conditions. Over a 90–100 day growing season, this hybrid consistently produces uniform, cylindrical roots that require minimal sorting before heading to market.

Practical Field Advantages

• Internal Quality: The deep dark-red flesh without internal rings is a major selling point for processors and retail chains alike. It ensures a high-quality product that looks as good as it tastes.
• Disease Management: Strong resistance to Cercospora leaf spot significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications. This saves on input costs and reduces the chemical footprint on your soil.
• Harvest Efficiency: The cylindrical root shape is well-suited for mechanical harvesting, allowing for a clean pull with minimal breakage or wastage.

Storage and Versatility

The true value of Carillon lies in its versatility. Whether you are targeting the early bunching market, supply chains for processing, or long-term storage, this hybrid performs across the board. The roots maintain their firmness and rich color throughout the storage period, allowing producers to hold their product and sell when the market conditions are most favorable. For farmers juggling multiple market channels, Carillon provides a consistent solution that simplifies both production and post-harvest management.
