Fodder beet Flat Mushroom A 473

Gribovskaya Ploskaya A 473: A Legacy Variety for Consistent Yields

Developed by the Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production (VNIISSOK), the "Gribovskaya Ploskaya A 473" beet remains a staple for small-scale farming and home gardening. Its longevity in the market is a testament to its reliability and practical agronomic traits, which many modern hybrids often sacrifice for mere speed of growth.

The hallmark of this variety is its distinct, flat root shape. Unlike elongated or rounded beets, the flat structure allows for shallow soil penetration, which dramatically simplifies the harvesting process. With a maturation period of 90–100 days, the beet develops a rich, rose-red color. The flesh is uniform, lacking the tough, light-colored rings that often plague lower-quality varieties, making it highly desirable for both early bunching sales and commercial processing.

Why Choose This Variety?

• Harvesting Ease: The flat profile ensures the roots sit near the surface, reducing labor requirements during harvest.
• Processing Quality: Its consistent shape and texture make it an excellent candidate for slicing and canning, yielding a visually appealing final product.
• Adaptability: The variety shows commendable resilience to temperature fluctuations, providing stability in regions with unpredictable growing seasons.

As a traditional variety, "Gribovskaya Ploskaya A 473" requires standard, consistent agronomic care to reach its full potential. While it may not grow as rapidly as intensive F1 hybrids, it offers a superior, balanced taste profile that is often preferred by culinary professionals. This is the optimal choice for producers who value tried-and-true genetics that deliver a reliable crop year after year.
