VULCAN sugar beet hybrid, developed by the «СоюзСемСвекла» breeding program, is a medium-maturing variety with a vegetation period of 150-160 days. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central and Central Black Earth regions, where it demonstrates high yield of up to 95 tons per hectare and sugar content of 17.0%. The root crop has a broadly conical shape, which facilitates its extraction from the soil and promotes excellent storage quality.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to a range of diseases, including ramularia leaf spot, root rots, and powdery mildew, as well as medium resistance to Cercospora leaf spot. Additionally, VULCAN exhibits high drought tolerance due to a well-developed root system capable of absorbing moisture from a depth of about 2.5 meters. This quality is particularly important during periods of intensive root crop growth in July-August, when water demand is at its peak.

Sugar beet VULCAN is a thermophilous and heat-tolerant crop; the optimal temperature for its growth is 20-22°C, yet photosynthesis proceeds effectively even at temperatures above 40°C. Seeds germinate within a wide temperature range from +4 to +17°C, with germination time depending on temperature. During the pre-harvest period, the crop can withstand frosts of -5°C without damage to sugar accumulation, making it resilient to adverse autumn weather conditions.
