Tennessee sugar beet is grown in various regions with a moderate climate where optimal conditions for its growth and development are maintained.

Sugar beet is a warm-loving, sun-loving, and moisture-loving crop, while it also exhibits relatively high drought and salt tolerance. For successful germination, seeds require a temperature range of 10-12°C, with a minimum germination temperature of +4°C. The optimal temperature for plant growth and development is within the range of 20-22°C. Sugar beet seedlings are sensitive to frost and may die at temperatures of -4°C to -5°C. The vegetation period requires a sum of average daily temperatures ranging from 1900 to 3500°C. Sucrose content in the roots depends on the number of sunny days during the July to October period.

Additionally, Tennessee sugar beet can also be used as a forage crop. In 100 kg of roots, there are approximately 25 feeding units and 1.2 kg of digestible protein, while the tops provide 20 feeding units and 2.2 kg of digestible protein. Sugar beet sugar, obtained from the juice of the roots, is chemically pure sucrose, which is used after processing for refined sugar production. Unrefined sugar beet sugar may have a brown color due to impurities, and the sucrose content in dry matter is usually below 99.5%.
