Sugar beet MAROON

Belgian breeding for efficient sugar beet production

The sugar beet hybrid "Maroon" from Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa is a product of years of development by Belgian breeders, tailored to the specific requirements of intensive farming. Sesvanderhave products have traditionally held a strong position in the European agricultural sector, combining advanced genetic research with rigorous quality control of planting material.

Morphological characteristics

The key feature of this hybrid is the shape and size of the root. "Maroon" develops a neat, round-shaped root of a compact, small size. This morphology significantly simplifies the mechanical harvesting process, ensuring lower impurity levels during digging and optimizing logistics from the field to the sugar processing plant. The round shape contributes to better access to nutrients and water, making the hybrid sufficiently resilient to changing climatic conditions.

Market positioning

The segment to which "Maroon" belongs is focused on farms aiming for a balance between technological efficiency and yield output. Using Belgian-bred seeds guarantees growers high germination rates and a stable start for the crop, which is critical during early sowing windows. By choosing this hybrid, producers rely on predictable results and the proven standards of Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa, which have been demonstrating their effectiveness across various European soil and climate zones for decades.
