Potato variety Kolymskiy is an early-maturing table variety of Russian selection with a maturation period of 60-70 days. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect growth habit and intermediate leaf development, with medium to large green leaves. The flowers have a medium-sized corolla with a pale red-violet color and weak anthocyanin pigmentation on the inner side of the corolla. Tubers are elongated, long-oval with small eyes, light beige skin, and yellow flesh. The marketable tuber mass varies from 101 to 142 grams, and starch content is 11.2-12.0%. The number of tubers per plant reaches 8-15. The variety is characterized by good and excellent taste, culinary type AB, making it suitable for salads, soups, and frying. The yield of Kolymskiy is high and stable: marketable yield is 174-366 centners per hectare, maximum yield reaches 573 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding the yields of standard varieties Lyubava and Udaча. The first harvest can be taken as early as 41-45 days after emergence with a yield of 115-194 centners per hectare, the second harvest on day 55 yields 196-269 centners per hectare. The variety is well adapted to cultivation on light soils and can withstand waterlogging. Recommended planting density is 40-42 thousand plants per hectare. Prior to planting, treatment against Rhizoctonia and late blight is required, and average sensitivity to the herbicide metribuzin should be considered. Kolymskiy exhibits high resistance to a range of diseases and pests, including potato cancer, golden potato cyst nematode, black leg, and late blight. According to phytopathology data, the variety is moderately susceptible to late blight of foliage and tubers, and shows moderate resistance to viruses Y (PVY), A (PVA), leaf curl (PLRV), Rhizoctonia, and common and silver scab. The variety features high storability (98%) and tuber marketability (82-91%), as well as moderate drought resistance and low sensitivity of flesh to mechanical damage, ensuring long-term storage and high product quality.
