Sugar beet Yavir

Operational insight: Cultivating Yavir

The «Yavir» variety, developed by the Institute of Sugar Beet of the UAAS, is a reliable choice for farmers who prioritize machinery efficiency and harvest stability. The key technical advantage of this variety lies in its round root shape, which dramatically changes the dynamics of the mechanical harvesting process compared to elongated hybrids.

Machinery and Harvesting Logistics

• Harvesting Dynamics: The round shape prevents tip breakage during lifting, resulting in significantly fewer losses. Operators report that standard digging units require less aggressive settings, which preserves the structural integrity of the root.
• Machinery Maintenance: When working with Yavir, focus on the leaf-removal units. Because the root shape is compact, precise height calibration of the defoliators is essential. This minimizes drag and prevents the clogging of cleaning rollers, ensuring a smoother flow through the harvester.
• Handling and Transport: The uniform, round shape ensures stable density in the harvester’s hopper, maximizing the load capacity and putting less stress on hydraulic systems compared to irregularly shaped produce.

For the equipment operator, Yavir is an forgiving variety. It does not require specialized harvesting attachments, making it highly compatible with standard fleets. During the seeding phase, the variety rewards well-maintained drills with consistent emergence. In terms of field maintenance, it responds well to standard crop protection chemical schedules, allowing for predictable logistics and reduced downtime for equipment adjustments. It is a robust, low-maintenance variety that delivers consistent results without requiring complex technological overhauls in your current operational setup.
